ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility for our services is determined by calling Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, Inc. They will take your application by telephone Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00am to noon and from 1-3pm.  You can also call on Wednesdays from 1-3pm. Their phone number is 1.800.453.3320. 

You could also fill out an application online at www.slsct.org/apply.  

Statewide Legal Services takes applications and makes referrals to LAA and other Legal Services offices covering the entire state of Connecticut.

OFFICE POLICIES

  • Because of the great demand for our services and our limited resources, we are not able to help everyone who is eligible for our services.
  • If we are able to help you, there is no charge for our services.
  • Eligibility is determined by a review of income, family size, assets and case type.
  • Eligible applications are discussed at a weekly meeting of the advocate staff in the specialty unit that handles your type of case.
  • Emergencies are reviewed as soon as possible.
  • If we find that LAA has had contact, either now or in the past, with someone who is involved with your case, we may be unable to help you.
  • In some cases, when we are unable to help you, we or Statewide Legal Services may be able to find a private attorney to help you without charge.

Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge.

LAA office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
